PAINT CORRECTION

Warren Tomasini travels across Montréal and Laval to correct paint within what the finish can safely support — and knows when to stop.

CHOOSE THE DEPTH

THE PRINCIPLE

THE PAINT SETS THE LIMITS.

Experience helps recognize the finish’s potential and determine the approach that can reveal it responsibly.

A visible defect does not tell you by itself how much correction the finish can safely support, whether a panel has been repaired or repainted, or what has already been done to the vehicle. Correction depth is never determined only by what a scratch appears to demand.

The complete system matters

Paint condition, abrasive, lubrication, pad, machine, speed, pressure, movement, friction, heat and contact time interact. None of those variables tells the whole story by itself.

OBJECTIVE

The best result the paint can safely support — not maximum defect removal at any cost.

REAL RESULT

BEFORE / AFTER — WITHOUT HIDING THE STARTING POINT.

This BMW had severe abrasive damage after an attempt to remove tree sap. Progressive correction restored clarity and depth to the best level the finish could safely support.

THE PROCESS

A METHOD THAT ADAPTS TO THE FINISH’S RESPONSE.

1

Assess

Defects, overall condition, known repairs or repaints, and history when available.

2

Measure when needed

Digital paint-thickness measurement becomes especially important before advanced correction.

3

Correct & refine

The method is adjusted to the paint’s response, not a fixed recipe.

4

Inspect & protect

The final result is checked, then suitable protection can be applied.

Technical view: tools and control

For heavy cutting, Warren uses a rotary with wool as his preferred working tool when that level of correction is justified. What changes from one finish to another includes machine speed, pressure, number of passes, working time, product, section size and the moment to stop. Dual-action refinement, pad and abrasive selection, and localized wet sanding where appropriate complete the method.

A technique that looks fast on camera is not an invitation to copy it. Rotary control requires reading the finish response, contact, heat, defect behaviour and the safe correction margin at the same time.

RESTRAINT IS PART OF JUDGMENT

KNOWING HOW TO GO FARTHER. ALSO KNOWING WHEN NOT TO.

A deep scratch does not automatically deserve to be chased until it disappears. When preserving the finish’s safety margin becomes the priority, preserving that margin is the right decision.

Evidence can include restraint

Showing a defect that was improved responsibly, explaining why some of it remains and documenting the decision can demonstrate more judgment than promising “100%.”

AFTER THE CORRECTION

PRESERVE THE RESULT AFTER THE JOB.

The corrected finish can be maintained by Studio T-Précision Detailing, or Warren can show you how to care for it properly yourself.

Aftercare is matched to the protection applied, how the vehicle is used and the conditions it sees — not a one-size-fits-all maintenance schedule.

TECHNICAL AFTERCARE

Written guidance can cover compatible wash products, drying technique, contamination, winter salt and calcium, and product-specific initial-care precautions when relevant.

NICKNAMED “THE TOMASINI SPECIAL.”

Bought a used car and want it to feel new to you? Just say, “I want the Tomasini Special.” I’ll handle the initial reset, including defects that call for professional correction where the paint allows it. Then you have a better starting point for caring for the car your way.

3-Step Paint Correction starting at $599.99, with localized wet sanding where the defect justifies it and the paint can safely support it.

More intensive correction may include a cutting stage, refinement and final finishing. The actual stages follow the paint system. I aim for the best finish the paint can safely support, with inspection and paint-thickness measurement where needed.

Digital paint-thickness measurement and vehicle qualification required. Paint history and condition determine the final correction level and price.

Basic inside + outside wash is included. Prices shown are standard starting points in Canadian dollars for an average vehicle in typical condition. Clear, recent, unedited photos can improve the preliminary assessment; final pricing and the appropriate correction level are confirmed after an in-person inspection, including paint-thickness measurements where required.
